We are happy to have a number of cattle that call ABC acres home. Presently we have four Scottish Highlands which are the foundation for building our future beef herd, while trialling two Black Angus in comparison. The Highlands’ hardiness in colder climates, strong immune systems, and heightened efficiency as grazers and browsers make them an ideal addition to our farm operations. Throw in the fact that we were married in Scotland, and we have a special place in our heart for these hairy ‘Snuffle-up-a-gus’ like creatures. Multi-colored, intact horns, and pleasant dispositions make working with them more of a joy than a burden. Moved daily into fresh grass pastures, we practice a high-density rotational grazing scheme. Timing daily movements into new paddocks when grass development insures high nutrient content for forage quality while taking into consideration our pursuit of healthy soils and carbon sequestration is our focus. Pursuing such a Holistic approach to cattle management insures healthy, disease free animals, while offering clients a healthy beef product for their table.
