I’ll try to keep today’s weekly update in line with the title, but no guarantees.  It’s been another stellar week here at ABC Acres, with as always a lot of things in motion.  We weaned the goat kids, planted trees, installed new irrigation, up-potted tomato seedlings, and even started the daily cattle rotation to fresh grass.  However we’re ending the week on a bittersweet note.

About a week after I started we hired Brett, our first Intern of the season.  Employees can be tricky, some of them are good, some not so good, but every once in a while you find a gem.  Brett either already knew what to do or learned quickly.  He’s reliable and didn’t need coddling.  He also took a keen interest in Permaculture and will hopefully return my library that I’ve loaned him.  Sadly, today is his last day as he was recently accepted as a journeyman apprentice. We know he’ll miss the farm, but we’ll miss his good attitude and solid work ethic even more.  I know I can speak for Tim when I say this, but it was truly a pleasure to work with Brett, and we wish him a happy career, but he’ll always have a home at ABC Acres.   So Brett if you’re reading this and the union breaks impede on your get’r done attitude, give us a call we’ve got plenty of stuff to keep you busy and farm fit.

Until next week….
