We know for a fact, that as you continue to implement the design science behind a Permaculture based food system, life wants to happen. In mimicking natural settings through Permaculture design, predatory species like birds, have a natural place in the scheme of things… they are your Pest Management. Hummingbirds, Bluebirds, Robbins, Wrens, Kestrels, Red Winged Blackbirds, Swallows, Owls, Redtail Hawks, etc, are just a few of the varieties that are starting to develop a regular presence on the farm. To encourage this trend alongside our planting endeavors, we have gone about constructing varying birdhouses to invite them to take up year-round residency. Our goal is 200 varying nest boxes annually, and with cold Montana winters at play, one relishes a little inside time to stay warm while refining their woodworking skills.
