On Vacation!  Which is great for him, he needs it.  However, it’s led to a week of, “when it rains it pours”… Yes, it is raining and we love the precipitation, however it seems like a lot is spinning out of control on the farm, (even though everything’s fine, if you’re reading this boss!).  I’m convinced that farming is the only occupation where you can literally bust your butt all day, and not get anything on the to do list done.  This week has been a prime example, we have gotten some things done, but as we start irrigation for the season all the kinks need to be worked out.  We’re having issues with a pump, a couple of the sprinklers have worn through their drive belts, and other minor issues keep surfacing.  On top of that the cattle broke out of their paddocks the other night, the tractors acting up, and one of my employees had to go to the ER, as he was showing symptoms of appendicitis.  Luckily the tests have come back negative, but as I prepare to wrap up for the week, feeling exhausted, I’m looking at the to do list and wishing there was a lot more check marks.  On the plus side I got some good bonding time with the herd, and am learning the intimate details of the irrigation system, and I get to do it all surrounded by the beauty of the Bitterroot Mountains.
